The Mortgage Alliance and Goldsmith Williams team up

The Mortgage Alliance (TMA) and Goldsmith Williams have joined forces, it was announced today.
Due to the partnership, TMA members are now guaranteed remortgage deal completion within one week through Goldsmith William’s conveyancing services.
TMA has already brought Easier2Move and Conveyancing Alliance Ltd into its team.

Mortgage lending rose in December

New statistics from the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) show that net mortgage lending rose in December.
The figures may be an indication that the market is gaining some stability.

Fixed rate remortgages cut by high street lenders

Last week saw many major lenders cut the prices of their fixed rate remortgage deals.
In a move that may come as a relief to many homeowners, NatWest and RBS launched a 3.79% two-year remortgage deal.

Fox Hayes shuts down remortgage unit

Leeds property transfer and conveyancing firm Fox Hayes has announced the closure of its remortgage department.
Chief executive Stephen Coupland told the Financial Times that due to a lack of work from lenders, demand for remortgages had decreased to such a level that the remortgage unit was no longer financially viable.

HSBC encourages tracker mortgage holders to overpay

HSBC has written to 30,000 of its customers who have tracker or variable rate mortgages advising them to overpay their loans.
By taking advantage of the historically low rates, the bank said, customers will benefit extensively.

RBSIP lowers rates on remortgage deals

RBS Intermediary Partners will reduce rates on some of its fixed rate deals tomorrow.
This means that the lender will be offering remortgage customers a two-year fixed rate of 4.19% with a 75% LTV, charging 999GBP.
A five-year fixed rate remortgage deal is also on offer, with up to an 85% LTV at a rate of 6.09%.

HSBC unveils record low mortgage interest rate

High street lender HSBC has launched a mortgage with its lowest ever interest rate.
The rate, which will take effect on 6th February, is just 2.99%.
The standard variable rate will also decrease in February to 3.94%.
