Finding remortgage deals “a struggle”, report claims
New research from the Bank of England, entitled “The Financial Position of British Households”, was released today.
The report was composed from 2,400 interviews with families between September and October.
The research found that 15% of interviewees who had attempted to find a remortgage deal recently had faced a struggle to do so.
10% of families were finding it difficult to keep up with rising mortgage repayments, plus expensive food and fuel bills.

It’s appropriate that it should be more difficult; the question is whether a significantly increased percentage of people now find it impossible to remortgage, or whether it merely takes them longer to find the right deal and lender for them.
